I provide counselling services to individuals ages 16 and up, working from a strengths-based perspective. My aim is to offer empathetic counselling to support clients who would like help coping with personal difficulties, life transitions and challenging experiences. I primarily work with people dealing with anxiety, stress, illness, trauma, relationship issues and workplace challenges, including burnout.
I have over 20 years of experience working as a Social Worker with children, adults and families. My past experience includes crisis counselling, supervised access program with Family Services Ottawa, government programs for vulnerable children and youth, and working in a military environment with civilians and CAF members.
My approaches include harm reduction, mindfulness, brief therapy and cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT). I believe that everyone deserves access to competent mental health services in a relaxed and professional setting and I offer a sliding fee scale as a commitment to providing affordable therapy. I also practice a collaborative approach to counselling and work with every client to create an individual treatment plan. I believe that sometimes we all need help to manage challenging life circumstances to attain wellness, and that ultimately this makes us stronger.
I have a Master of Social Work (MSW) degree and am a Registered Social Worker (RSW) in good standing with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers and a member of the Ontario Association of Social Workers (OASW). My fees can be claimed under insurance policies that cover counselling with a Registered Social Worker with a MSW.
