I provide counselling services to individuals ages 16 and up, working from a strengths-based perspective. My aim is to offer empathetic counselling to support clients who would like help coping with personal difficulties, life transitions and challenging experiences. I primarily work with people dealing with anxiety, stress, illness, past and current trauma, relationship issues and workplace challenges, including operational stress and burnout.
I have over 20 years of experience working as a Social Worker with children, adults and families. In addition to private practice, my past experience includes crisis counselling, supervised access program with Family Services Ottawa, government programs for vulnerable children and youth, Indigenous maternal and child health, and working in a military environment with civilians and CAF members.
My approaches include harm reduction, mindfulness, brief therapy, dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT) and cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT). I believe that everyone deserves access to competent mental health services in a relaxed and professional setting and I offer a sliding fee scale as a commitment to providing affordable therapy. I also practice a collaborative approach to counselling and work with every client to create an individual treatment plan. I believe that sometimes we all need help to manage challenging life circumstances to attain wellness, and that ultimately this makes us stronger.
